Week 27

Welcome to the third trimester! Woweeee! 6 months down, and 3 more to go! I started off this week by spending some much needed time with my family in Kansas City. Since Denny had an early testing week, my family and I flew down early and stayed with my Aunt, Uncle, and Grandma in Blue Springs, MO. It was so good to see my Aunt and Uncle, but it was especially good to see my Grandma. She is 93 years old, and still loving life! Actually the last time I saw her, I was pregnant and didn’t even realize it! This time I actually had something to show for it!

While we were there we played cards, Rummikub, and went shopping. I think we shopped till we dropped! How cute are these boots I found at Forever 21 for only $39?!

I even tried on a couple dresses for the Banquet. I don’t want to try on too many, because I am still going to get a lot bigger, and don’t want to get ahead of myself. I will actually be 33 weeks pregnant by that time comes, so I definitely want a dress that can stretch, and also one I can easily move around in. So if you have any suggestions on places or sites where they sell formal maternity wear, please feel free to let me know  :)

This week, both sisters and I are celebrating a birthday! Dana, my half sister, is on the 23rd, mine is on the 27th, and Linsey’s is on the 30th. So since our family won’t get to see us on our birthdays, we celebrated a little earlier. I love the cake they got us!

My mom, sisters, and niece all got to come to the race with us on Sunday too. It was so nice to have Denny, his mom and my family all together. We don’t get many opportunities to all be in the same place at once, so the next time this happens will probably be when the baby comes! I do hate that Denny didn’t get the finish he wanted, but the next race is Martinsville, and it’s also my birthday weekend, so hopefully it’s a great weekend all around!

On Wednesday, I went to the doctor’s for a regular prenatal check up and also to take my glucose-screening test for gestational diabetes. When I got there, I drank a small sugary orange drink. It wasn’t as bad as I was anticipating. It was kind of like orange soda, but without the carbonation. I did my regular check up where they listen to baby’s heartbeat, measure the size of my belly, and answer any questions I might have. An hour later, they took my blood, to see how the sugar dissolved in my system. I won’t get the results for a few days, but I am hoping they are good!

Overall it was a nice relaxing week. The next few weeks are going to get even crazier, so I was happy to get away to spend some time with my family.

Until next time!

Week 26

My final week in my second trimester! Can’t believe how fast it has flown by! And this week didn’t slow down one bit!

Image

We started off Week 26 with the Nationwide race at Charlotte. This race was special because Denny got to drive the Dollar General 18 car in a special pink paint scheme for breast cancer awareness. Denny wore a bright pink fire suit, which I will say looked mighty handsome on him, and I wore my shirt, Mary Lou and I designed for Toyota, and a pink blazer (see pic below). It was so fun to see all the fans and everyone there support such an amazing cause.

On sunday, Denny had his annual Fan Club Event. It was so great to see some familiar faces, and also meet some new ones! I got to meet a lot of you who I had never met before, and let me say it was such a pleasure talking to each and every one of you! I have been overwhelmed with all the love and support from Denny’s fans, and couldn’t thank you guys enough! A lot of you gave Denny and I gifts for the baby, which we are truly grateful. From the hand-knitted baby blankets, to the homemade scrapbook, to the VT onesies, each gift has a special place in our heart; especially because they are from you. So thank you.

We had to run out of his fan club event pretty quick because we had a Maternity Ward Hospital Tour right after. We got to tour the facility along with other expectant couples of where to go and what to do when the time comes to deliver. We go to see the rooms, tour the nursery, and even see our dining options for after delivery. I highly recommend touring your hospital if you are expecting, just so you can get a feel for what the hospital provides, and so you can be more comfortable on the day of. I am one of those people who likes to be prepared, and especially for that of an upcoming baby!

To end the week, Denny and I had our first 3D/4D Ultrasound, and it was truly amazing. My insurance only covers the first confirmatory ultrasound and the anatomy scan ultrasound, so this was an elective ultrasound we wanted to have to see the progress of the baby, and also get some great pictures. :) I couldn’t believe how big she has gotten since last time! If you don’t know the difference between 2D and 3D, 2D is what most Ob’s use to look at to see baby’s bone growth and development, and 3D looks at the surface image to show baby’s facial features and muscle growth. We were told that she already has a head full of hair, dimples, and frown lines (all from her mother). And we even got a shot of her picking her nose (just like her daddy:) )

I highly recommend the 3D/4D ultrasound, even though it isn’t necessary, it is a great way to see your baby for you and your spouse, and it’s an experience that you will remember forever. You can even invite friends and family to the session, or if they aren’t nearby, they can watch a live stream online of the ultrasound! Our session lasted about an hour, and we even got a DVD of the entire ultrasound to take home. We will be going back in a month or so to see how far she has come along since then.

Well it was definitely a busy week, and only going to get busier with me starting my third trimester and the Chase coming to a close! Stay tuned for next week’s blog as I start my third trimester!

Week 25

I hate that I missed the race at Talladega this past weekend, but instead I went to our friend’s wedding in Sea Island, GA! My girlfriends and I drove down there, and we had such a blast! It was absolutely beautiful! With work, the pregnancy, and flying to races on the weekend, I never really get to have a “day off.” So it was nice to spend some time with my friends, and enjoy the beautiful weather! I hated having to come home because it was 90 degrees in GA, and in the 50 degree bracket in Charlotte! Can you say burr?? The wedding and the bride were absolutely gorgeous! We are so happy for our friends Todd and Amy! They make a wonderful couple!

And of course I was excited because our hotel not only had a complimentary breakfast, but they had an automatic pancake maker! How cool is this thing? Wonder if we can get one in the house!

On Twitter I asked for any suggestions on Halloween costumes! Which means my birthday is just around the corner as well! I really want to do something funny for Halloween, and if you have any suggestions please let me know! Here are some funny ones I found on the internet:

Speaking of funny, I was looking back at some photos and videos on my phone from the very beginning of my pregnancy. Here’s one of me telling my best friend since Kindergarten that I am pregnant. Let me set the stage… It was her birthday (btw fun fact, she is a triplet, and going to school to be a labor and delivery nurse), so I had gotten my very first ultrasound done that morning. I thought what’s a better present than telling her the news that I’m pregnant! But we did it in a funny way.. my sister gave her the ultrasound picture (I’m holding the camera) in hopes that she would think it was Linsey who was pregnant. She was definitely excited to say the least! But after we told her to look closer at the picture, she realized what was happening, and her reaction was priceless! Take a look to see :)

Week 24

On Thursday, I went to a prego party! Ever since I found out I was pregnant it seemed like everyone I knew was finding out they were expecting too! So I thought it would be fun to get all the girls I knew who were pregnant together for dinner so we could just hang out and chat about what else, but being pregnant!

Since we are all so close in age and due around the same time it was so easy to talk and get to know everyone, and share what our experiences were. For a lot of us it’s our first pregnancy, and it is a very new, exciting, but scary time for all of us, so it was nice to know we aren’t going through it alone.

We talked about everything: from weight gain, to cravings, to weird bodily functions. Some of the girls I had never met before, but felt like I already knew them because we had such similar experiences thus far. Overall, we had a great time, and I look forward to the next time we get together in a month or so to see how far everyone has come along.

On Saturday, my sister, mom, and my friend Savannah went crib shopping. We checked out a couple places: Baby Furniture Plus and Shower Me With Love in Charlotte. There were so many cribs to choose from! I was glad to finally look at some in person, versus online, so I could see which types I like better than others. I have finally come to a conclusion on one thing… the theme!

I call it “classic glam.” I love the simplicity of theses rooms, but it also has that certain flair meant for a special girl.

On Monday, while DH did his usual Football thing, I stayed at home and watched my belly move for about an hour. Oh the simple things in life. J For the past month or so, I have been feeling her kick quite often, everyday in fact. And I definitely don’t take it for granted. But I haven’t seen her kick until this week. I literally watched my stomach move for about an hour due to her wiggles and movements. It was way cool! I am still so in awe, because I still can’t believe there is a living human being inside of me!

I am really enjoying writing this blog, and reading from all of your comments and input! Last week I asked for you guys to vote for our Breast Cancer T-shirt, and I loved reading all your comments. I really do read them all, and I am so happy to hear all the love and support. I have chose Amber Schoenfelder as the winner of the random reader giveaway, so congratulations to her! I really hope our shirt wins, because it is for a cause close to my heart, and I am sure many of yours too.

Thanks again for reading! Until next time..
